I opened my son's math app last week and watched him barrel through a level he barely understood. Tap tap tap: each wrong answer cost him a heart, three wrong answers and he was back at the start. It's slower than the arcade version. There's no dopamine spike from collecting tokens. But what actually sticks is less about willpower and more about pattern recognition. Your kid's brain isn't being taxed to stay interested; it's being invited to think.
