Educational screen time can feel different when a child’s attention goes into solving, building and exploring instead of watching advertisements or chasing daily rewards. The most useful question may be simpler than “Is screen time good or bad?” Ask what the screen is inviting your child to practise.

Does the activity ask for thought, prediction, decoding or calculation? Does progress reflect growing skill? Can the child leave without losing something artificially scarce? Can a parent try it without handing over payment details or exposing the child to advertisements?
