In April 1970, Apollo 13’s crew faced rising carbon dioxide inside the lunar module Aquarius. The command module carried usable lithium hydroxide canisters, but their square shape did not fit the lunar module’s round openings. The material they needed was aboard the spacecraft. Astronaut Jack Swigert and his crewmates followed their instructions in space. When fractions become part of the machine
Now move from the Apollo 13 control room to an ordinary kitchen after dinner.

What to watch during the hand-off
The most useful parental question may be simple: what does my child have to think about to make the interesting thing happen?
Watch one short session. If the child can ignore the mathematics and still reach the reward, the learning and play are separate. If comparing, dividing or recombining quantities directly changes the apparatus, the skill is carrying the experience.
Also notice the moment after a mistake. Does the screen create panic, shame or pressure? Or does it preserve enough context for the child to try again?
